Purpose of Prayer Ministry

John Bunyan said this about prayer, “Prayer is a sincere, sensible, affectionate pouring out of the heart or soul to God, through Christ, in the strength and assistance of the Holy Spirit, for such things as God has promised, or according to His Word, for the good of the church, with submission in faith to the will of God.”

We believe that there are 2 purposes to be accomplished by prayer.

1)  Glorification to our LORD, in obedience and submission to His Will. The living out of the Word by the Power of the Holy Spirit, the preaching of the Gospel throughout the World, and the knowing of our Lord Jesus Christ.

2)  Edification of the Body of Christ, as God designs this assembly to do. That we will live in unity of the Word, we will exercise the Spiritual Gifts, and we will live in purity through His Word.

It is our strong conviction that we pray because we believe in the God who is able to answer prayer (Ps. 91:14, Is. 65:24). This implies that the answer of prayer relies upon the One who answers, not the one who prays – His Will, His Time, and His pleasure (Is. 55:8). We pray also because it is the act of obedience unto Him so that we will align our will to His (Dan. 9).
